Summary of Fluoropolymer Coating Performance Comparison

PTFE(F4) coating

● Low coefficient of friction

● Poor meltability

● Excellent chemical resistance

● PTFE dispersion coating: non-stick, wear-resistant, lubricating with maximum thickness 80um, temperature range -200 °C to +260 °C

● Sheet lining layer: common thickness 3mm, temperature range -30 °C to +130 °C

● Molded layer: typically 8mm-10mm thick, temperature range -30 °C to +210 °C

FEP(F46)coating

● Chemical resistance similar to PFA

● Mechanical resistance less than PFA and PTFE

● Temperature range -190°C to +200°C

● Better non-stick properties than PFA, better leveling properties than ETFE and PFA

● FEP Powder and emulsion spray non-stick coating: 100um, temperature range -180°C to +200°C

● Heavy anti-corrosive powder coating: 2000um, temperature range-150°C to +190°C

● Molded layer thickness usually 8mm-10mm, temperature range -50°C to +180°C

ETFE(F40)coating

● Same stretch performance as PTFE

● Temperature range -50°C to +150°C

● ETFE powder coating for general corrosion protection: 300um, temperature range -50°C to +150°C

● Heavy anti-corrosive powder coating (thick coating) : 1000um, temperature range -50°C to +150°C

● Rotational coating thickness: 0.5mm-4mm, temperature range -30°C to +120°C

PFA coating

● Chemical and mechanical resistance similar to PTFE

● Temperature range -200°C to +260°C

● PFA powder coating (thin coating): 100um, temperature range -190°C to +200°C

● Heavy anti-corrosive powder coating (thick coating): 1000um, temperature range -180°C to +250°C

● Molded layer thickness: 8mm-10mm, temperature range -100°C to +210°C

● Rotational coating thickness: 0.5mm-4mm, temperature range: -190°C to +250°C

ECTFE coating

● Resistant to organic solvents, strong acids, chlorides, and sodium hydroxide

● Excellent impact toughness even at temperatures as low as -40°C

● Temperature range: -50°C to +150°C

● Standard anti-corrosion coating thickness: 300 μm; maximum coating thickness: 1500 μm

● Heavy anti-corrosion sheet lining type: 2.5 mm thickness; temperature range: -30°C to +120°C
