New-generation modified PTFE: irradiated PTFE.

Why develop Irradiated PTFE ?

As a high-performance engineering plastic, PTFE plays an irreplaceable role in national economy, national defense, advanced technology and many other fields. However, affected by its chain and crystalline structures, PTFE with high symmetry, high rigidity, non-entangled and folded lamellar crystals. The traditional PTFE has inherent drawbacks: easy creep, high porosity, poor wear resistance and radiation degradable.

To address these difficulties, Chinese researchers have developed advanced modified PTFE technologies in recent years. Now, we have been successfully developed and industrialized a super-molecular structural modification technology based on high-energy ionizing radiation, borning a new-generation modified PTFE: irradiated PTFE.

Irradiated PTFE Performance Advantages

● Wear resistance: over 100 times higher than standard PTFE

● Creep resistance: creep deformation reduced by more than 10 times

● High-energy radiation resistance: over 100 times improved

● Low porosity: porosity cut by over 5 times

High-energy radiation induces a key crystalline transformation from folded lamellar crystals to spherulites, which fundamentally contributes to the significant improvement in wear resistance and anti-creep performance.

With upgraded comprehensive properties, irradiated PTFE adapts to more extreme working conditions, widely applicable in pump & valve sealing, aerospace, industrial pipelines, military equipment and other high-demand sectors.
